Goal: to help workshop attendees understand these methods and incorporate this powerful tool into their own research projects using either their local mass spectrometry resource or the IDeA National Proteomics Resource. Fifteen attendees will be supported for each workshop.
Workshops will be tailored to include people with moderate to limited to no mass spectrometry experience. Attendees will receive lecture-style presentations on topics such as fundamental principles of proteomics, experimental design for proteomics experiments, sample preparation, data collection, data analysis, and interpretation. Laboratory demonstrations of the practical sides of sample preparation and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry methods will also be used.
All travel, lodging, and meals paid for the participants.
The workshops are supported by supplements from the NIH to the Oklahoma INBRE (P20GM103447-17S1) and Arkansas INBRE (P20GM103429-15S1).

The University of Kentucky and Bluegrass Community and Technical College will be hosting a five-day, KBRIN workshop covering the acquisition and bioinformatic analysis of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data.
The goal of the workshop is to provide participants with an understanding of the technical aspects of data acquisition, and an introduction to the use of common (and open source) tools for data analysis (genomic, RNAseq and metagenomic data sets).
No prior experience or background in NGS is required. Applicants with NGS datasets that they wish to examine as a component of the workshop experience are encouraged to apply.
The workshop will be hosted July, 10th to July 14th, 2017
The workshop is free to participants from Kentucky (applications will be reviewed by a selection committee to ensure broad representation)
$1000 to all others (fee includes registration, housing, breakfast, lunch, coffee and snacks)
Computer models play a significant role in the design and evaluation of medical devices and technologies, and are increasingly being used to enable personalized treatment delivery strategies. Prominent experts from academia and industry will provide an in depth view of fundamental concepts and current trends in model-based medical device design. Hands-on modeling tutorials with simulation software will be presented to demonstrate application of concepts covered in lectures.
Invited lecturers with extensive experience in the field will deliver lectures on topics including:
Native American, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian students to NIH and biomed research and healthcare centers. All students who apply must be affiliated with an INBRE program.
